Body Found at Stamford Park ID'd by Police

A body discovered in a remote location on Horseshoe Crab Beach at Cove Island Park was identified by police as a 50-year-old Stamford resident who lived nearby.

According to Stamford Police Capt. Richard Conklin, the body of Frank Kuleba, of the first block of Dean St., was discovered Saturday afternoon, January 26, 2013, at approximately 3:11 p.m. by a walker in the park.

Kuleba was reportedly found near the tip of the peninsula there, Conklin said. He was found in the water, near the rocks and had apparently been there overnight in the extreme weather conditions.

Conklin said results form an autopsy are pending and until the department has those, an investigation is ongoing, but he ventured that by outward appearances and initial interviews with friends and family, it appeared the situation was probably a result of a pre-existing medical issue.

Kuleba was found with his headphones in his ears and there was no outward signs of injury or a struggle, Conklin said. Kuleba's car was found in the visitors lot for the park.
