Fire at Vacant Stamford Building Ruled Arson

The fire broke out at the building on Monday afternoon.

A fire at a former furniture store in Stamford on Monday afternoon has been ruled an arson, the Stamford Advocate reports.

Fire officials said the fire was likely caused by vagrants camping in the vacant South End building located at 59 Manhattan Street.

According to the publication, witnesses saw kids running from the area and fire officials are hoping to determine if they were involved. The smoke was contained within the building keeping the fire in check while firefighters arrived. Firefighters were able to put out the fire containing any damage to the first floor where the fire started,
