Check out after dark this month and you’re in for a surprise.

In a partnership with the , they have lit up their building in blue to honor Colorectal Cancer Awareness.

“They asked, 'Would you be willing to light it up like the Empire State Building?'” Mia Schipani, Vice President of Business Development at Hotel Zero Degrees, said. "We can change the lights to all different colors."

Schipani, a volunteer at Stamford Hospital, is always looking for ways that Hotel Zero Degrees can use their space in Stamford Downtown to help a good cause — be it hosting events for free in their chic lobby space or utilizing their network of local professionals to put on an event.

On March 21, Hotel Zero Degrees and the Stamford Hospital Bennett Cancer Center will come together to host a Healthy Happy Hour from 6—8 PM at Hotel Zero Degrees, 909 Washington Boulevard, in honor of National Nutrition Month. Targeted towards women looking to learn how to improve their overall health and diet, guests will have the chance to sample healthy foods and enjoy organic wine.

“[Bennett Cancer Center] is a major anchor of the community,” Schipani said. “It’s win-win. We have a shared mission to educate women about taking better care of themselves for prevention.”

Sue Caldwell, Healthy Chef and Caterer from Fairfield’s Health in a Hurry will speak about ways that a healthy diet can fit into a hectic schedule.

“Her food is incredibly tasty,” Schipani said. “I asked her to come and she’ll bring an array of healthy foods. I think the reason a lot of people don’t eat well is that they don’t think they have time. She provides ways to make it easier.”

Lisa Shepard, Registered Dietician and Nutritionist from the Stamford Hospital’s Bennett Cancer Center, will also speak with guests. Shepard has devised a presentation based on the “F-words” — buzzwords including food, fat, female, fluids, fiber, fit, and fabulous.

"We have a huge network of professional women in the community, we're inviting them to come and learn," Schipani said. “We hope they’re inspired to want to eat better and stay healthy."

RSVP to Mia Schipani at Mia@rms-companies.com by March 14 to reserve a spot at the Healthy Happy Hour.
