Thomas F. 'Sarge' Maloney, 75; Retired Foreman for The Stamford Advocate

Thomas F. ‘Sarge’ Maloney, of Stamford, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014 at Stamford Hospital. He was 75.

He was born in Greenwich, on Jan. 4, 1939, a son of the late Thomas J. and Margaret Dwan Maloney.

‘Sarge’ was employed as a foreman for The Stamford Advocate for 42 years and also was the pitcher for the company softball team in his early years. He also worked for himself as the owner of TFM Trucking in Stamford. He was an avid Met and Jet fan and enjoyed classic car shows along with his grandchildren’s sporting events.

He is survived by his loving wife Elaine F. Denison Maloney of Stamford; his loving sons Thomas P. Maloney and Brian F. Maloney and his wife Leslie, all of Stamford; two brothers Jack Maloney and his wife Pat of Stamford, and James Maloney and his wife Geri of of Rhode Island; two brothers-in-law Philibert Denison and his wife Gerianne of Florida, and Barry Denison and his wife Patty of Stamford. Also surviving are his two grandsons Michael and Jared Maloney, and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral procession will leave The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory on Friday, Aug. 29, at 9:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart RC Church, 37 Schuyler Ave., Stamford. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Rockrimmon Road, Stamford. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28.
