UPDATE: 46-Year-Old Man Struck and Killed by Metro-North Train in Stratford

The incident occurred at about noon on Friday, according to authorities.

Updated at 5:18 p.m. on Friday, April 15, 2016: Although a name has not been made available, the New Haven Register is reporting that the man who was struck and killed by a Metro-North train Friday was a 46-year-old Stratford resident.

One track will remain out of service in the vicinity of the accident while the case is investigated, according to to officials.

The man was described as a trespasser on the tracks, near the Stratford station.

The Stamford Advocate writes that the incident occurred at 12:09 p.m., and that train that struck the man originated from Grand Central Terminal in New York at 10:34 a.m.

Delays along the New Haven Line north of Stamford were continuing, as of 2:14 p.m., according to rail officials.

Original story: STRATFORD, CT - A person was struck by a Metro-North train at about noon in Stratford Friday, according to authorities.

The extent of any injuries is not immediately known, and the incident has caused delays of 30 to 60 minutes in the vicinity, Metro-North officials posted on Twitter.

NBC Connecticut News reports that the person was hit while on the northside of the tracks.
