Stratford Families Displaced After Main Street Fire

Two Stratford families have found themselves at least temporarily without a place to live after a fire damaged their Main Street building in which they lived.

The American Red Cross is currently providing emergency housing and food for the three adults and one child.

In addition, the displaced child was provided a stuffed animal toy, Paul D. Shipman, the chief communications officer for the Connecticut chapter, stated in a press release.

"The Red Cross is also providing to both families comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items a family might not have been able to gather in the rush to escape the fire," Shipman said.

American Red Cross disaster assistance is free of charge, a gift made possible by donations and the work of volunteers, he added.
