Teen Charged with Threatening to Kill Stratford Girl After Prom Rejection: Report

The 18-year-old allegedly began sending threatening texts, including a photo of him pointing a gun, after she refused to go to the prom.

STRATFORD, CT — West Haven’s Trevon Malik Avery, 18, was arrested Friday for allegedly threatening to kill a 17-year-old Stratford girl after she refused to go to her high school prom with him, according to the Connecticut Post.

The Post reports the girl told police that she broke up with Avery on Thursday and refused to go to the prom with him, then she started receiving threatening texts from Avery — including a photo of him pointing a gun into the camera.

Avery told police that he was only joking and the gun wasn’t real, but he didn’t know where it was, according to the Post.
