Grateful Families Donate to Hurricane Victims

A Suffield family is heading the efforts to collect and bring supplies to Hurricane Sandy victims in Southern Connecticut and elsewhere.

"My family feels so very lucky to have escaped Hurricane Sandy’s destruction," said Maura Klesczewski. "I just kept thinking about all those people in Southern Connecticut who were not as fortunate. We know there are so many wonderful people in the Suffield area who want to help those people who really need clean drinking water and supplies right now."

Klesczewski encourages anyone who can to donate extra supplies purchased in preparation for the storm, including water, non-perishable snacks, or toiletries like toothbrushes and toothpaste.

Maura, Rob, Lauren and Eiren Klesczewski and friends will collect the supplies tomorrow morning and transport them to the Connecticut shoreline.

"Come on Suffield, it’s our turn to help some of the people in need. If we all pitch in, we can make life a little bit better for those people who are still out of power in Southern Connecticut."

"It's such a wonderful thing this family is doing," said Suffield resident Pam Hardy, one of the many people sending email blasts around town to promote the collection.
