Lawn Tractor In Dangerous Spot Bursts Into Flames In Tolland

TOLLAND, CT — A lawn tractor burst into flames in Tolland Monday and quick work by firefighters prevented things from becoming a lot worse.

Fire officials said the incident took place late Monday afternoon.

"Crews were able to quickly extinguish it, limiting any spread," fire officials said.

Indeed, the tractor caught fire precariously close to a large pile of dried, fallen leaves. A Red Flag warning is currently in effect statewide because of dry conditions, meaning a small brush fire — or any open fire — could turn into something big in a hurry.

Images from the scene indicated the fire was beginning to spread when a fire crew arrived.
