School board chairperson Andy Powell is providing a new look at the 2012 Tolland SAT scores.
Powell has passed along to Tolland Patch the test scores for a number of towns that are comparable to Tolland. Some of the school districts are also members of District Reference Group C, a collection of towns with similar financial demographics to Tolland.
Tolland's latest class scores fell in the middle of the pack in all three categories. Towns such as Simsbury, Avon and Glastonbury, which are part of DRG B, scored higher than Tolland.
Powell explained that the last column in the attached spreadsheet represents net expenditures per student.Out of the 10 towns included, only Ellington, which is in DRG C, spent less per pupil in 2010-2011. Tolland spent an average of $11,079, according to the spreadsheet.
The district's average 2012 SAT scores were:
- Reading - 526
- Math - 549
- Writing - 533
