Tractor Trailer Fire Shuts Down Portion of I-84 in Tolland
The semi caught fire around 4 a.m., closing two of the highway's three eastbound lanes for several hours.
A tractor trailer fire on Interstate 84 in Tolland closed two lanes on the eastbound side of the highway for several hours Friday morning.
The truck, which was carrying a load of apples, was completely destroyed in the blaze, which was reported at approximately 4 a.m. between exits 68 and 69, Fire Chief John Littell said.
Fire department personnel called the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection to provide salt and two sand trucks due to breached fuel tanks, @TollandAlert reported on Twitter.
