Truck Catches Fire On Back Road In Tolland

TOLLAND, CT — A pickup truck burst into flames on a backwoods dirt road in Tolland Thursday.

The incident took place on Hidden Valley Road at about 10:30 a.m.

Fire officials said it took less than a hour to knock the fire down with a good dousing of water, but it was also quite an adventure for the truck owner.

According to fire officials, he was towing a landscaping-type trailer pulls the truck over to unhitch it and switch it out with another.

When he came back with another trailer, the truck was smoking and the engine eventually burst into flames, fire officials said. The fire spread to the cab of the truck, fire officials said.

No injuries were reported.
