Vernon, Ellington Drivers Crash Head-On In Tolland

TOLLAND, CT - State police are still looking into what caused a Sunday evening head-on crash involving two sport utility vehicles on Crystal Lake Road.

The crash took place at 7:51 p.m. near the High Ridge Road intersection, state police said. Crystal Lake Road is the local name for state Route 30.

Troopers said a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by 55-year-old Lisa Vivenzio, of 31 Sunny View Drive, Vernon, was heading northbound. A 2008 Pontiac Torrence driven by 63-year-old Linda Tolisano, of 35 West Shore Road, Ellington, was heading in the other direction, but suddenly swerved into the northbound lane, state police said.

The two vehcles crashed head-in, state police said.

Both drivers were taken to hospitals in Hartford, but they escaped with minor injuries, state police said.

Tolisano was issued an infraction ticket for failure to drive right, state police said.

The case is still being investigated, state police said.
