Argument Leads to Assault, Broken Phone

A Trumbull man is accused of taking his ex-girlfriend's cell phone before assaulting her May 29.

Brandon Charles DeFilippo, 30, of Lily Circle, is charged with second-degree criminal mischief, fifth-degree larceny, second-degree breach of the peace, third-degree assault, second-degree threatening and second-degree strangulation.

Police said he went to his ex-girlfriend's home where they started arguing and he left with her phone. She followed him to his home where she threatened to slash his tires and they argued again, police said.

He then allegedly assaulted the woman.

DeFilippo's bond was set at $500,000.

Argument Outside of a Restaurant

Two men were arrested after allegedly fighting near the street outside of Marisa's Ristorante.

Raymond Soto, 28, of York Street, West Haven, is charged with third-degree criminal mischief, interfering with police, second-degree breach of the peace and second-degree threatening.

Norberto Cales, 27, of Oak Avenue, Shelton, is charged with interfering with police and second-degree breach of the peace.

Police said they were fighting near the roadway. 

Soto's bond was set at $1,000 and Cales' at $500.

Alleged Shoplifting

Michia Shephard, 18, of Connecticut Avenue, Bridgeport, and Diondra Moniska Reynolds, 19, of Harbor Avenue, Bridgeport, are each charged with sixth-degree larceny.

Police said combined they took nearly $460 in merchandise from JCPenney in the Westfield Trumbull Mall. Their bonds were set at $500.

Drunken Driving Charged

Steven Edward Burns, 42, of Ridgeview Avenue, Trumbull, is charged with driving under the influence and following too closely.

Police said his car was stopped on Main Street near Town Hall, where he failed field sobriety tests. His blood-alcohol content was tested at 0.162 and 0.154, nearly twice the legal limit.

His bond was set at $500.
