Temperatures Nearing 100 Degrees through Thursday

The National Weather Services warns that heat index values could hit more than 100 degrees during the day beginning this afternoon through Thursday. A heat advisory has been issued for Ridgefield and much of the northeast.

According to National Weather Service, “a heat advistory is issued when the combination of heat and humidity is expected to make it feel like it is 100 to 104 degrees for [at least] two consecutive hours.

A heat index factors in humidity to gauge when the temperature feels like rather than what the thermometer says.

The following tips were issued:

  • Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside
  • Reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening.
  • Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
  • Wear light weight and loose-fitting clothing
  • Drink lots of water
