Trumbull Cops: Man Assaulted, Robbed in Home Invasion

Trumbull Cops: Man Assaulted, Robbed in Home Invasion

An intruder entered a Trumbull man's home Wednesday and pistol-whipped him before ransacking the dwelling and fleeing with a cell phone and change, police said.

Police released the information Thursday morning.

"Police believe at this time the residence was targeted and not randomly chosen," said Police Lt. Leonard Scinto, department spokesman.

Officers responded to a home on White Plains Road near Lindberg Drive at 9:46 a.m. Wednesday but the suspects had already fled, police said.

According to police, the incident began when "one of the two residents who was home at the time stated he heard a knock at his bedroom door. When he opened the door thinking it was a roommate he was confronted by a black male armed with handgun wearing a hoody with his face partially concealed.

"The victim was pistol-whipped causing a sever laceration on the top of his head," police added.

The two then scuffled and the victim was struck a second time in the head by a second suspect similarly dressed also armed with a handgun, police said.

While the rooms were being ransacked, a roommate who heard the scuffle called police.

The victim was transported to the hospital, and "it appears at this time only some change and a cell phone was taken in the robbery," police said.
