DUI Arrest: Yard Worker Allegedly Steals & Smashes Up an FJ Cruiser
Trumbull police make a DUI arrest. Now Monroe police are investigating a stolen vehicle complaint.
A 39-year-old Shelton man allegedly stole a 2010 Toyota FJ Cruiser from Monroe residents July 26, after being hired to do yard work at their Velvet Street home, and was later arrested for DUI in Trumbull after smashing up the $33,000 vehicle.
Andrew Tellone, 39, of Rosedale Circle in Shelton was charged with reckless driving, DUI and failure to drive in the proper lane. His bond was set at $500 and he has an appearance scheduled in Bridgeport Superior Court.
The residents, who own the Toyota, pressed charges in Monroe on July 27 and police are investigating their stolen vehicle complaint.
Trumbull police said officers responded to an accident around the 6900 block of Main Street, where the Toyota Tellone was driving reportedly drifted off the road, ran over bushes, trees and a fence before coming to a rest near a Cedar Hill Drive home.
Tellone refused medical treatment at the scene and field sobriety tests determined he was under the influence, police said. His blood alcohol content tested at 0.175 and 0.168, about twice the legal limit of 0.08, according to police.
