The Trumbull Senior American Legion team was eliminated from the state tournament following an 8-1 loss to Trumbull on Tuesday at Muzzy Field.

Trumbull managed only three hits over seven innings against Greenwich starter Dylan Callahan, who did not return following a lengthy rain delay in the eighth.

The Trumbull junior team, meanwhile, learned its quarterfinal opponent as it will face No. 2 seed Southington on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Veterans Field in Windsor Locks.

With the East Hartford-West Hartford suspended on Wednesday, the start of the junior tournament was pushed back until Thursday. The result of that matchup will determine the rest of the quarterfinal matchups.

Four area teams have reached the final field of eight as Trumbull will be joined by Ridgefield, Stamford and Norwalk, which defeated RCP 2-0 Tuesday in the completion of a suspended game.
