Vernon Therapist at Integrated Rehabilitation Services Running in Boston Marathon as Tribute

Denise Pantason, BS, PTA, a South Windsor resident and therapist at Integrated Rehabilitation Services in Vernon, will be running in the 2014 Boston Marathon on Monday, April 21 in remembrance of those killed and injured in last year's Marathon, and to honor runners from last year who dedicated so much time to training and could not complete their Marathon.

Pantason has been a competitive runner for the past 35 years. After last year’s bombings, she was compelled to do something to show her support for the running community. She decided to try and qualify for the 2014 Boston Marathon. She trained through the heat of last summer and was able to run the Via marathon in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and qualify. Training through the winter was tougher.

After spending 16 years in the corporate world, Denise made a career shift and became involved in health and fitness as a group fitness instructor and personal trainer. She also became a national trainer for the Silver Sneakers Older Adult program. Realizing what physical therapy can do to help people to restore and improve their function motivated her to return to school and earn her Physical Therapist Assistant degree.

Denise was a Division I All Big East and All New England Cross Country and Track and Field runner at UConn. She remains an avid runner and has completed six marathons. She is a volunteer conditioning coach for the South Windsor High School girls cross country, track and field, and soccer teams. She holds numerous professional fitness certifications.
