Truck Catches Fire on Route 83 in Vernon

VERNON, CT — Firefighters made quick work of a truck fire at the intersection of Talcottville and Merline roads on Friday.

Units from Vernon, Ellington and Tolland responded, officials said in a Facebook post.

Officials said witnesses saw the vehicle driving northbound on Talcottville Road, the local name for that stretch of Route 83, while on fire and it quickly pulled off into the Cardio Express parking lot.

Its occupants escaped safely, fire officials said.
