Vernon Man Dies in Stafford Car Crash

BREAKING: The crash occurred late Monday night, state police said.

STAFFORD, CT — A Vernon man was killed in a single-car crash by State Line Pond in Stafford late Monday night.

Mark Lambert, 55, whose listed address is 102 High St., Vernon, was pronounced dead at the scene after the 2001 Nissan Maxima he was driving overturned and hit a utility pole, state police said.

According to a state police report, Lambert was headed north on Route 32 near the Stony Lane at 11:39 p.m. The section of Route 32 is known locally as Monson Road. The car crossed the center line, traveled into the southbound shoulder and flipped on an embankment before hitting a utility pole, according to a state police report.

Lambert was partially ejected, according to a state police report. He was pronounced dead at the scene, the report indicates.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is being asked to call the state police Troop C barracks at 860-896-3222, Ext. 8039.
