Smash-and-Grab Car Burglars Victimize Mourners at Manchester Funeral
At least one check was cashed in Wallingford; police have images of some people suspected of using checks stolen in the burglaries.

Several mourners at a Manchester funeral home on Monday night found windows of their cars had been smashed and purses taken from inside — including a checkbook that someone started using, according to a report on WFSB-TV.
Burglars also took other items from inside the cars parked at John F. Tierney Funeral Home at 219 W. Center St. A ring taken from one victim had belonged to her late mother.
Thieves got $7,400 and used forged checks at Liberty Bank branches in Cromwell, Cheshire and Wallingford, according to WFSB-TV.

Owners or mangers at the funeral home told WFSB-TV that nothing like this is not known to have happened before in the 58-year history of the business, but they’re looking into improving security for the parking lot.
