Daily Five: A New Chief at Jordan

1. Today should be mostly sunny, with a high around 42, according to the National Weather Service. Tonight should be mostly clear, with a low around 23, according to the service.  

2. The Jordan Fire House recently had its elections, and Tim Condon was voted the new chief of the department.

Condon was formerly the deputy chief of Jordan and also serves on Waterford’s Representative Town Meeting. Condon replaces Tim Sullivan, who is also a member of the RTM.

The new deputy chief of Jordan is Tim O'Neill, according to Condon.

3. This morning at 10 a.m., the Social Service Grants Review Committee continues its hearings and will take final action on the budget.

Today, the group will review proposals by the Waterford Shellfish Commission, the Waterford-East Lyme Shellfish Commission, South East Area Transit, the Eastern Connecticut Conservation District, the Municipal Historian and the Southeastern Council of Governments. Then the group will take final action on its proposed budget.

4. Tonight there is a parent transition workshop at Waterford High School from 6 to 7:30.

The meeting, which is put on by the State Education Resource Center, is for the transition from high school to the real world (or college, which hardly qualifies as real world). The meeting is for parents of high school students and even middle school students.
