Daily Five: Waterford Thinks it Can Dance, Greco Field Redone

1. Today rain and snow is expected in the morning, with it turning to all rain in the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. Tonight there is a chance of snow, with a low around 29, according to the service.

2. In case you missed Waterford Youth Services’ blog post Monday, the group has announced its replacement event for Dancing with the Stars: So you think you can Dance Waterford?.

For the past two years, Waterford Youth Services featuring local “celebrities” like police officers, teachers, firemen and even this Patch editor. This event will replace that, and youth services is looking for groups of three to six people to sign up for the competition. For more information and how to sign up, click here.

3. Matt Kobyluck, owner of Kobyluck Brothers LLC, has found himself in the news again, this time for some positive publicity.

Kobyluck and his workers donated time and equipment to help the Waterford Youth Football and Cheer League put up new light poles at Greco Field. The lights and poles were the result of “some good timing and fundraising efforts,” according to an announcement posted to this site. The lights will provide the field with 50 percent more light while savings hundreds of dollars in electricity costs, according to the announcement.

Kobyluck has been a regular in the headlines of Waterford Patch, particularly in the first half of this year, as he has filed four appeals in Superior Court against the Town of Waterford after the town rejected his proposal to install a stone processing facility at 28 Industrial Drive.

4. Tonight, the Recreation and Parks Commission meets at 5 in the Community Center and the Democratic Town Committee meets at 7:30 in the Town Hall auditorium.
