A 25-year-old Simsbury Road man suspected of stabbing an ex-girlfriend to death at a home on Westphal Street was captured Thursday evening, police said.

David Grant was taken into custody shortly after 6 p.m. at 116 Caya Ave., said.

A report in the Hartford Courant indicates that Grant was discovered hiding behind some boxes in the garage at 116 Caya Avenue, just a block from where the victim was discovered. According to that report, police said that the victim was discovered at a home at 60 Westphal Street suffering from multiple stab wounds, and was pronounced dead at Hartford Hospital.

The victim, who has been identified as Suzete Berrincha, was 22 and lived at 60 Westphal St., according to reports.

Grant was seen running north from the home after a neighbor called police about a disturbance. He was found hiding in the garage on Caya Avenue.

The suspect's car was left in the driveway of the Westphal Street home, and identification, including a passport, was found in the vehicle. Police used that information to issue an alert through the Everbridge Notification System to West Hartford residents that they were looking for Grant as a possible murder suspect.

Grant is now in custody, with bail set at $2 million, and is due to be arraigned Friday in Superior Court in Hartford.

According to her Facebook page, Berrincha was a 2006 graduate of Hall High School and a 2010 graduate of the University of Connecticut.
