Underground Explosion Knocks Out Power to Many in West Hartford

The power is expected to be fully restored by 11 a.m.

8 p.m. As of now almost 500 West Hartford residents are still without power. Also 4,000 Hartford residents are without power because of the early morning underground explosion and fire that destroyed cables.

Power was supposed to be fully restored by 7 p.m. but that hasn’t happened. Several restaurants and businesses had to be closed on Sunday as well.

11 a.m. Update: Power has been restored to all but 32 West Hartford customers.

Power should fully be restored in West Hartford by 11 a.m. after an underground explosion and fire in Hartford destroyed cables resulting in several thousands of power outages in Hartford and West Hartford, reports WFSB 3 TV.

As of 8:45 a.m. 1,490 West Hartford residents are still without power. About 1,600 Hartford residents are also still in the dark. At one point there were more than 8,000 people without power.
