The bridge is being replaced in stages with half the bridge being worked on at a time. Due to the nature of the work and the required lane closures on I-84 some of this work must be performed at night.
The state has worked closely with their contractor New England Infrastructure to minimize the impacts to the surrounding neighborhoods and tried to keep noise levels at a reasonable level.
On Thursday (4/21) around 12 a.m., the contractor is planning to utilize a hydraulic hammer to remove a portion of the bridge deck. This will be a noisy activity but it is anticipated to be of relatively short duration.
The contractor indicated that this work will enable them to progress significantly to a point where they can continue demolition activities during daytime hours.
We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding. Please know that this operation will ensure the highest level of safety to the public and allow demolition activity to continue in a safe and efficient manner.
