Keith Richards' 1950 Pontiac Sold at Auction
A 1950 Pontiac Chieftain Silver Streak convertible formerly owned by Rolling Stones guitarist and Weston resident Keith Richards reportedly sold for $61,422 at a recent auction in the UK.
If you had to make a choice which would you rather buy, a rusty 1959 Austin Mini that looks like it was salvaged from a junk yard, or a pristine 1950 Pontiac Chieftain Silver Streak convertible formerly owned by Rolling Stones guitarist and resident Keith Richards?
As per a report on Bloomberg.com, a 1959 Mini, described by Bonhams as the oldest surviving unrestored car of its type, fetched $65,382 at a recent auction in the UK, beating the $61,422 paid for Richards' dark-blue 1950 Chieftain Silver Streak, which he reportedly used while the Rolling Stones were recording “Exile on Main Street.”
Both cars were reportedly bought by private U.S. buyers during an auction held at the RAF Museum in Hendon, England.
