Redding Republicans Endorse Candidates for Fall Election

Redding Republicans Endorse Candidates for Fall Election
The Redding Republican Town Committee announced several endorsements following its March 31st meeting at the Spinning Wheel Inn.  Prior to making the endorsements, the Committee heard from several additional candidates seeking endorsement for this fall’s state and federal election.

The Town Committee announced the following endorsements:

Governor: Mark Boughton

State Treasurer: Tim Herbst

U.S. Congress 4th District: John Shaban

State Senate 26th District: Toni Boucher

State Assembly 2nd District: Dan Carter

Probate Judge: Joe Egan

“We’re pleased to see such a strong group of qualified Republican candidates step forward this year, and selecting from among them is not an easy task,” said Ward Mazzucco, Redding RTC Chair. “This strong turnout of candidates is a positive sign that people in our state are not happy with the current leadership in Hartford and Washington and want a new direction that will make us a more fiscally responsible and economically sound place to live and do business,” he added.

“Mark Boughton has been an extremely effective mayor in one Connecticut’s largest municipalities and has demonstrated the executive strength to deal with the challenges of our state. Tim Herbst, the current First Selectman of Trumbull, has shown a strong grasp of the fiscal challenges facing our state and has proven himself to be a candidate who can win in a Democratically controlled environment. Our own John Shaban has been a n excellent representative at the state level and should be a viable candidate to run against Jim Himes for the 4th U.S. Congressional seat. And, of course, we are fortunate to have such strong incumbents as Toni Boucher, Dan Carter and Joe Egan all running for re-election,” continued Mazzucco.
