Weston Man Loses $400 in Botched iPhone Sale

Weston Police news, Feb. 18 through Feb. 21.

Weston Man Loses $400 in Botched iPhone Sale

A 34-year-old Weston man is out $400 after a woman took the money he paid for an iPhone 5 and drove away.

According to police, the man arranged to buy an iPhone 5 from the woman through an ad on Craigslist, which listed the phone for sale at $450. The man offered $400, and the woman accepted. The two arranged to meet in the parking lot of Saint Francis of Assisi.

The alleged thief—described as black woman with short hair in her 20s—verified the phone was working by making a call. The man then gave her $400 in cash, and she took it and drove away without giving him the phone.

The suspect's car is described as a light brown Chevrolet Impala.

The incident was reported to police on Thursday, Feb. 21 at 8:38 p.m.

An 11 O Clock Road reported to police someone smashed the rear window of his vehicle between midnight and 6 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 18. The resident—who was unsure who might have done something like that—told police a rock was found on the ground near the vehicle.
