FBI Joins Investigation into Bomb Threat at Bridgewater Associates in Westport: Police

WESTPORT, CT — Though no explosive devices were discovered at the offices of Bridgewater Associates in Westport Wednesday, the investigation into bomb threat continues, according to Westport police.

"This incident is being investigated to the fullest extent by the Westport Police Detective Bureau and the FBI," police wrote in a statement Wednesday evening.

Both the Stamford Police Bomb Squad and the State Police Bomb Squad responded to search the Glendinning Place building where the threat was phoned in at about 3 p.m., but employees at three Bridgewater locations in Westport were evacuated Wednesday afternoon due the bomb threat, reports Westport Now.

In addition to the Glendinning Place site, the hedge fund's Nyala Farms and Riverside Avenue offices also were cleared out.

The threat was reported at about 3 p.m., writes the Connecticut Post. At the Glendinning Place location, employees were dismissed for the day by 4 p.m. and police blocked off portions of the roads near the complex, according to Westport Now.

Additionally, the threat was reportedly phoned in from an international number, writes the publication.

The company, which is Westport's largest private employer, recently announced it was planning to layoff an undisclosed number of employees.
