Westport Firefighters Douse Car Fire on the Merritt Parkway

Westport, CT - Firefighters extinguished a car fire Saturday afternoon on the Merritt Parkway southbound in Westport near exit 42, according to Assitant Fire Chief Brian Meadows.

Emergency personnel were called to the scene at about 6:40 p.m., and one lane of the parkway was temporarily shutdown which snarled traffic. No injuries were reported.

Westport fire Engine 6, Engine 2 and the Shift Commander were required to bring the blaze under control.
