While on routine patrol, Westport's K9 officer noticed a vehicle with four occupants parked in the cul-de–sac on Pioneer Road at about 3 a.m. Friday morning.

When the officer approached the vehicle and spoke to the driver, he could smell marijuana coming from inside the vehicle, police said.

When asked if there were any illegal narcotics in the vehicle, one of the rear passengers, identified as 18-year-old Matthew-Mergim Trdevaj, of 6 Robert Lane, Westport, handed over marijuana and several other items he used to create a "joint" for the others in the vehicle, police said.

Trdevaj was searched and the officer located a small baggie with a white powder substance in his wallet. Trdevaj admitted the substance was LSD powder, police said.

The officer located another small baggie with small paper stamps. Trdevaj admitted that each stamp was laced with LSD blotter acid, according to police.

Westport police charged Trdevaj with possession of a controlled substance - hallucinogenic substance, illegal possession of a controlled substance near a school and possession of less than a half ounce of marijuana, police said.

He was taken into custody and later released after posting a $2,500 surety bond. He is due in Norwalk Superior Court on Nov. 12.
