It’s made fun of in movies, other states say we have no accent and city folks flock to it like celebrities to a sushi bar-- yes, that little New England gem, Connecticut.
Our state does have loads of curb appeal-- from the incredible fall foliage in the hills of Kent to the multi-colored, pastel sunsets at Westport’s Compo Beach, Connecticut is beautiful and charming. But there are a few ”ugly spots” which cause risks, depending on where you live.
Safe Choice Security has put together a list, using data from the 2012 FBI Crime Statistics report, to compile the 4-1-1 on the 20 safest cities to live in Connecticut.
In our area, Wilton ranked #4. Safe Choice Secutiry said this is why:
“Wilton, CT is a small city bordering New York State in Fairfield County. As one of the top 5 safest cities in Connecticut, it is a great choice for those looking to move to a safer area. It is nestled in Norwalk River Valley and is home to a variety of big name businesses. An abundance of historical locations and a charming residential feel make it an easy choice for those who are first attracted by the very low crime rates in Wilton and its proximity to the big city.”
Not too far behind is Easton at #5:
“Easton, CT is one of the two smallest cities on our list. It is also situated in Fairfield County. For anyone who wants the community feel of a small town, Easton is a great choice. The town has a rich history and an abundance of farms pepper the area bringing old world charm to the town. With an active police force that works hard on keeping residents safe and involved in the public safety of their community, it’s no surprise that this small town is one of the safest ones in the state.”
And Redding ranked #6:
“Redding, CT in Fairfield County is on the southwest portion of the state. This tiny town is another surprise, as we expected to find very few if any towns near New York that were safe in terms of crime rate. Streams, ridges and valleys converge in the town of Redding to create a breathtaking location for outdoor enthusiasts. It has also ranked in the top 5 of small towns to live in both in state publications and national ones. Its low crime rate, proximity to the city, rich history and natural resources make for a very appealing spot to relocate.”
