Windsor police continue to investigate an armed robbery that took place at a Poquonock Avenue Mobile gas station on January 18.

According to Windsor Police Capt. Tom LePore, the department is currently working with a number of area law enforcement agencies in an effort to identify the man suspected of using handgun to rob the gas station of cash and cigarettes.

One of those agencies is the Windsor Locks Police Department.

According to police, the lone suspect has only been identified by the monkey mask and dark clothing he wore during the robbery.

Windsor police believe the suspect is the same gunman who is said to have robbed a Subway restaurant on National Drive in Windsor Locks on Jan. 15.

The gunman in the Windsor Locks robbery wore similar clothing and the same monkey mask used in the Windsor gas station robbery.

Despite the similarities, police cannot rule out the possibility the crimes were not committed by the same individual, according to LePore.

"I don't believe there's any forensic evidence to say it is the same person," he said.

Windsor Police continue to ask anyone with information about the incident or the individual pictured to contact the Windsor Police Department by calling 860-688-5273.

Police say the suspect stands approximately 6 feet tall and was last seen wearing dark clothes, work gloves, light-colored sneakers, a jacket that may have been inside out and a mask with a monkey's face.
