Windsor Locks, East Windsor Police Investigating Similar Burglaries

An East Windsor convenience store was burglarized just minutes after a Windsor Locks business.

East Windsor, CT - Police are investigating a burglary which happened early Saturday morning at a Route 140 convenience store, and is similar to a burglary in neighboring Windsor Locks which occurred just a few minutes earlier.

On its Facebook page, the East Windsor Police Department reported around 1 a.m., officers responded to a burglary alarm at American Food Mart at 148 North Road. When officers arrived, they found the front door had been shattered with a large rock.

Video surveillance showed the suspect stole cartons and packs of cigarettes, as well as a handful of candy on his way out. The suspect was in the store for about a minute and a half, police said.

Windsor Locks police had responded to a similar burglary about 15 minutes prior to the East Windsor break-in. On its Facebook page, Bobby G's Old Fashioned Service reported it had been victimized, and is offering a $500 reward for information.

Police say the two burglaries are likely related.

The white male suspect in the East Windsor case appears to be about 6 feet tall, with a thin build and "walks with a lanky gait." The suspect was wearing a T-shirt with a unique design.
