A Windsor Locks student will be featured in the CREC Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts’ upcoming production of the classical musical Carouselon May 2, 3, 8, 9 & 10. Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Carousel has delighted audiences across the country for decades. Carousel is based on Ferenc Molnár’s Play “Liliom,” as adapted by Benjamin F. Glazer and Original Dances by Agnes de Mille. Curtain time is 7:30pm for all performances. The cast and crew features more than 50 students from 20-plus Connecticut school districts. The Windsor Locks student is Kiana Quinonez, a junior in the musical theater department.
Winner of five Tony Awards and hailed by Time magazine as “The best musical of the 20th century,” Carousel marked the advent of an era of experimentation in the form and content of Musical Theater. Carousel features some of the most powerful music ever written for the stage, including the unforgettable “You'll Never Walk Alone”, “If I Loved You” and the joyful “June Is Bustin' Out All Over.” Carousel centers on the difficult romance between a carnival barker and a millworker in 19th century Maine. It tells a story of true love and the tragedy of feelings left unspoken. This classic American musical is deeply touching and will capture your heart.
