A brown Cocker Spaniel/Shar Pei mix is missing after a 2:30 p.m. car accident, Animal Control Officer Jim Roy told Patch.

The accident occurred today in the vicinity of Long Meadow Road and Route 188. The dog's family are presently at a local hospital, he said.

The dog, whose name is Charlie, ran from the car through Avalon Farms, toward the Judd Hill Road/Christian Road area, Roy said. Charlie may have a head injury sustained from the accident, he said.

At around 7:47 p.m., Roy said the search was called off due to the weather and nightfall,

Roy said the search will resume tomorrow.
