Region 15 Superintendent Appoints MaryLou Torre as Gainfield School Interim Principal

Torre has 18 years experience in school and district administration.

Region 15 Superintendent of Schools Regina Lemerich Botsford today named MaryLou Torre to serve as interim principal at Gainfield Elementary School (GES), starting August 17, 2015.

Torre will temporarily replace Matthew Salvestrini who accepted a position as Director of Digital Learning for the New Canaan Public Schools. Salvestrini has been the Gainfield Elementary School Principal for the past six years.

Torre has 18 years experience in school and district administration, with a strong background in teaching and special education. She was the principal of Mitchell Elementary School in Region 14 since 2010 until her retirement in 2015. She has also served as Intermediate House Principal for grades 3-6 in Woodbridge and Assistant Principal in Redding.

“We believe MaryLou Torre will do an exceptional job as interim principal at Gainfield Elementary School, supporting and guiding the Gainfield students and staff as they enter the new school year in September,” said Botsford. “Mrs. Torre has years of leadership experience that will help our school community during this transition time.”

Torre has committed to filling the interim position until the end of the school year, if necessary. The search for the new principal will be conducted at a later point.
