Big Fluffy Dog Saved from Euthanasia Becomes Therapy Dog for Autistic Boy

Sherlock may look like a direwolf from Game of Thrones, but he’s actually just a handsome Samoyed/Great Pyrenees mix. Rescued from a high-kill shelter in rural Tennessee less than 24 hours from being euthanized, Sherlock is one lucky pup!

Today, he is in training to become a service dog for a young autistic boy in New England. With his long fluffy fur, high intelligence, and calm demeanor, Sherlock is the perfect breed for his new role.

Big Fluffy Dog Rescue (BFDR), the organization that saved Sherlock from impending doom, is now teaching him how to help others. With a few weeks of training under his belt, Sherlock is excelling as a student and will make a loving companion pup to his new owner.

BFDR is currently fundraising via the GoodWorld platform to help support Sherlock's training.

Sherlock must learn certain commands and protective behaviors to help keep his 8-year-old master safe when he has anxiety attacks and other uncontrollable episodes.

Sherlock was given a second chance at life -- and now he's helping others do the same. When he wraps up his therapy dog classes in a few weeks, a little boy in New England is about to have a new best friend.
