Fire at IRS Building Shuts Down Constitution Avenue: Reports
No injuries were reported and the building will be closed Tuesday.
Reports are emerging that a fire at the IRS building has resulted in the closure of Constitution Avenue and 12th Street near the scene.
Initial reports indicated that only 12th Street had been closed, but a picture of the scene posted on Twitter appears to show Constitution Avenue shut down as well.
Fox 5 DC reported that the fire started in the basement. NBC reporter Shomari Stone tweeted that the building was evacuated, and that the fire was due to a transformer.

The Washington Post is reporting that the building will be closed on Tuesday, and that the fire was due to electrical problems in the air-conditioning system. No injuries were reported.
