Armed Robber Forced ATM Withdrawal, Deputies Say

The victim was forced at gunpoint to leave his Riverview place of employment to take out cash for the robber.

RIVERVIEW, FL — The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is looking for help identifying a man it says held up another at gunpoint and forced him to withdraw cash from an ATM.

According to deputies, the victim, a 27-year-old Starbucks employee, was sitting in his vehicle outside the 3715 U.S. 301 S. coffee shop around 4:25 a.m. on Jan. 7 when a man on foot approached him. The man pulled out a handgun and demanded cash, an email from the sheriff’s office said.

When the victim told the robber he didn’t have cash, the armed man forced the victim to head to a nearby McDonald’s. The suspect waited while the man withdrew money from his account at the restaurant’s ATM. He then took the cash and fled on foot behind a nearby Publix, deputies say.
