School Lunch Menus: There’s an App for That Tampa Bay

Tampa Bay area school districts use the Nutrislice app to help parents and students keep up with menus.

TAMPA BAY, FL — Parents of picky eaters who have to make the decision to pack a lunch or buy based on day-to-day menu changes have a simple place to turn to find out what school cafeterias plan to serve up during the upcoming academic year. Most county school districts throughout the Tampa Bay area use a handy app called Nutrislice.

The Florida Department of Agriculture reports that most schools throughout the state intend to use the free app to keep kids and parents informed about menus. The app also offers educational activities that promote healthier eating.

“A healthy diet is crucial to academic success,” Commissioner of Agriculture Adam H. Putnam said in a statement. “By providing children and parents with technology to plan kids’ meals at school, we can help boost performance in the classroom.”
