Woman Dies After Riding Disney's Space Mountain
The incident was one of several reported to the state of Florida by Disney's Magic Kingdom.
A 55-year-old Tennessee woman lost consciousness and later died after taking a ride on Walt Disney World’s Space Mountain over the summer, according to a report recently released by the state of Florida.
In its quarterly facilities report, the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services listed 13 separate medical incidents at the Disney theme park. The quarterly report chronicles medical incidents and injuries at all of the state’s theme parks. The Magic Kingdom led the pack in the number of incidents reported for the third quarter of 2015, followed by SeaWorld and Universal with three each.

The woman who died after riding Space Mountain, the report noted, had pre-existing medical conditions, exited the ride and then lost consciousness. The incident occurred on July 7.
Identified as Pamela Lynn Haynes of Kingsport, Tenn., the woman was taken to Florida Hospital Celebration, the Orlando Sentinel reported. She ultimately died from septic shock and cardiopulmonary arrest, the paper added.

Haynes’ death is the first reported at the Magic Kingdom this year. The park witnessed two ride-related deaths last year.
Other accidents at the Magic Kingdom during the third quarter included a guest with a pre-existing condition who suffered a seizure after riding the Tomorrowland Speedway. Another guest reported a back injury after riding the Gran Fiesta Tour and a guest with a pre-existing condition temporarily lost consciousness after riding the Rock n’ Rollercoaster.
There were no injuries or medical incidents reported at Tampa’s Busch Gardens during the third quarter. Legoland and Wet’n Wild also had no reported incidents.
