CLEARWATER, FL — A trailer fire shut down the westbound lanes of Courtney Campbell Causeway just as late-afternoon commuters were headed home Monday.
The Clearwater police issued a notice of lane closures on the Courtney Campbell Causeway around 3 p.m. when a 20-foot-long trailer, used as a work station for a seamless gutter installer, caught fire.
Police said the driver noticed there was a problem and pulled over to the side of the road and was able to detach the trailer from the truck towing it before the fire engulfed the trailer.
