Miami-Dade Firefighters Save Burning Boat

The incident occurred near Dinner Key Channel.

COCONUT GROVE — First responders saved a boat from sinking on Thursday as they wrestled with a boat fire.

The incident occurred shortly after 4 p.m. about 200 yards from Dinner Key Channel not far from South Bayshore Drive.

"FB 73 was able to put the fire out and keep the boat from sinking by dewatering it," explained Erika Benitez of Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.

Benitez said that no one on the boat was injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
