Pedestrian Struck on Tampa Road

Investigators say 38-year-old Jason Billingham was carrying a gas can while crossing the road toward his van at night. Two drivers, including one from Dunedin, were also treated for minor injuries.

Pedestrian Struck on Tampa Road

A Palm Harbor driver hit a pedestrian who was walking to his stalled van at the intersection of Tampa Road and Sunflower Drive in Oldsmar around 10 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

Jason Billingham, 38, is in critical condition at Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg. Two drivers involved in the accident were transported to Mease Countryside Hospital in Safety Harbor.

Two other drivers involved, including a man from Dunedin, were treated for minor injuries, deputies say.

Investigators say Billingham's 2003 Dodge Caravan was stalled in the median lane and may have run out of gas. He was struck by a westbound Mercury Sable as he attempted to cross Tampa Road from the north to the center median lane on foot. Deputies say he was carrying a gas can filled with fuel. He was not in a crosswalk at the time, deputies report.

The Mercury Sable, driven by Jeffrey Boulware, 59, of Palm Harbor, was then rear-ended by a Honda Accord driven by by Brian Davis, 20, of Dunedin.

Deputies say no charges were filed.

No information is currently available regarding where Billingham lives.

The investigation is ongoing.
