BARTOW, FL — A grand opening ceremony for the newly built Loughman Fire Station will take place on Thursday, Sept. 15 at 10 a.m.

In December 2020, Polk County commissioners approved the construction of a new fire and emergency station in Loughman consisting of 11,000 square feet with staff quarters and vehicle storage bays to accommodate one fire truck and one ambulance.

The station, constructed at a cost of $3.5 million, was designed by The Lunz Group of Lakeland and constructed by Core Construction Services of Florida in Winter Haven firm.

Funding comes from the Polk Fire Rescue Service’s budget, the county's general fund and grant money.
