The community is invited to enjoy the live music, taste of the town, silent auction and the children's activity area Feb. 26.

Concert 4 A Cure This Saturday

Lilly Fontanez, co-captain of the Land O’ Lakes Sun Rays Relay For Life Team, is hoping to see a big enough turn out at the Concert 4 A Cure to raise about $2,000.

It is the biggest fundraiser for her team and she is hoping the community will come out and enjoy the concerts, the taste of the town and the silent auction on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the , 5401 Land O' Lakes Blvd.

The admission to the event is $5 and each food ticket for the taste will be $1. The money raised by the concert will go to the American Cancer Society for the Relay for Life at Land O’ Lakes High School April 15.

“We hope people will come out and celebrate with families and friends and bring out cancer survivors,” Fontanez said. “Land O’ Lakes has the best community with a big open heart.”

There will be a little something for everyone at the concert including Christian music, rock and even some smooth jazz.

Inside the building, the music ministry from Heritage Church and Grace Family Church will perform. Victorious Life Church’s IVV band will perform with the church’s contemporary dance group Shekina.

Outside the disk jockey will play alternative rock and the classic rock band Jaded Kitty will perform two sets.

Local restaurants participating in the Taste of the Town include ABC Pizza, Papa Johns, Tijuana Flats, Pepe’s Cuban Café, Rapscallions, Smoothie King and Five Star Pizza.

In the children’s activity area the Chick-fil-A cow and Ronald McDonald will hand out gift certificates to their restaurants. There will also be a bouncy house provided by Bounce Away and face-painting and a bean-bag toss.

“We wouldn’t be able to do this without all the help we get from the community and from our volunteers,” Fontanez said.

Fontanez said she had a huge amount of help from the community for everything from fliers from Gifts and Graphics to trophies from A-OK Trophies and lots of silent auction items. There will be gift certificates for massage, hot air balloon rides, plants and even custom artwork.

Everyone attending the event is eligible to win door prizes including gift certificates for free oil-changes, hair cuts and more.

The concert will help several Relay for Life teams from the Land O’ Lakes High School Relay. Wilderness Wildcats, Gateway Chiropractic and Lake Padgett Estates East will also be at the fundraiser.

The Sun Rays relay team will also host Bowling For A Cure March 3 at at 7 p.m. For more information visit, the American Cancer Society’s website at relayforlife.org.
