What's Closed on Columbus Day 2015 in Tampa Bay?

There are a few closings residents will want to take note of.

Monday, Oct. 12 is Columbus Day in the United States and that means Tampa Bay area residents can anticipate running into a few closings here and there as some recognize a three-day weekend.

Considered a federal holiday, Columbus Day does result in closings at that governmental level. That means local federal government offices will closed and regular mail service won’t run. The state of Florida does not take the day off nor do most counties.

Residents can also anticipate banks that follow the federal schedule will have their doors closed on Monday, as well. It’s best to check with local branches before heading out to cash a check.
